Another busy and successful year for Lodge Prestwick 1060 where we were able to support a number of local charities.
Charity Cabaret 2022
Lodge Prestwick No.1060 continue to show their commitment to local community by donating £1200 to ‘Night Before Christmas Campaign’
The team of volunteers make up Christmas boxes and bags for children and vulnerable adults across Ayrshire and beyond, delivering hope to the less fortunate at Christmas.
Our donation was mainly raised at a Charity Cabaret organised by Social Club Chairman Alan Hamilton, with regular artists performing free of charge. This is such a great charity, and we are delighted to contribute to their cause.

Troon Walk 2020
Lodge Prestwick continue to show their commitment to local charities by donating £724 to the Ayrshire Hospice.
The money was raised by way of our annual sponsored walk from Lodge Troon Navigation 86. to Lodge Prestwick 1060.
Whilst keeping his distance (Covid-19), R.W.M. Bro. Ronnie Bone visited the Ayrshire Hospice where he presented them with a cheque for £724 (a late donation of £10 was added) which was most gratefully received.

Charity Race Night November 2019
RWM William Cowan pulled out all the stops to make a huge success of the race night. A fantastic sum of over £900 was raised for S.A.D.S.A a local organisation who provide a safe and comfortable environment specifically to support and care for people/families living with dementia.
Charity Cabaret October 2019
Another great success from Bro. Alan Hamilton social club chairman, with his cabaret in aid of local charity Ayrshire Cancer Support.
There was a great turn out in support of the event with a number of the regular artists performing free of charge.
The Brethren found it fitting to round the total up to Ten Hundred and Sixty pounds.

Sponsored Walk Presentations
The Master of the Prestwick Masonic Lodge Willie Cowan, raised £210 in aid of SADSA . The remaining brethren raised a total of £1000 which was given to Ayrshire Cancer Support and the McMillan Nurses (£500 each). The photos show Willie presenting the cheques to Liz Campbell from SADSA and volunteer drivers George and Jan McMorris from Ayrshire Cancer Support. A big thank you to all our supporters.
Well done Big Al you made their day a bit special
Last weekend the Bellshill branch of Enable Scotland had their annual trip to Ayr. On their return to their base at the Masonic Lodge in Prestwick for a meal they had a great surprise by way of a cheque for £1060.
The money had been raised at a Charity Cabaret organised by the Social Club Chairman Alan Hamilton when a number of regular artists at the club had performed free of charge.
The members of the lodge had rounded up the money to Ten Hundred and Sixty, which happens to be the Lodge number.
Sharon Wilson from Enable Scotland on receiving the cheque from Alan said "The support we get from Prestwick is absolutely brilliant and has been going on for over ten years".
Alan added "A big thankyou is due to our artists and our loyal club supporters".

Lodge Prestwick No.1060 continue to show their commitment to local charity by donating £800 to Ayrshire Cancer Support. The money was raised by way of their annual sponsored walk from Lodge Troon Navigation No.86 to Prestwick.

A great day at Prestwick Bowling Club
£1060 has been donated from Lodge Prestwick 1060 to Ayrshire Cancer Support. The annual bowling match with Prestwick Bowling Club was a great success at raising money. This was supplemented by money raised by selling golf balls which are found by "Fudge" , the Secretary's specially talented spaniel. Further donations made by the Installing Masters and the Brethren of the Lodge brought the total to £1060. More cash for the Hospice
Social club chairman Alan Hamilton organised a second Charity Cabaret in memory of his wife Ella. Once again all the artists provided their services free of charge and a full house of regular members raised an increased sum of £1345. Alan would like to say a big thank you to all who attended or contributed.

£1200 for Ayrshire Hospice
Social club chairman Alan Hamilton organised a Charity Cabaret in memory of his wife Ella who died in February last year. All the artists provided their services free of charge and a full house of regular members raised the terrific sum of £1200. Alan would like to say a big thank you to all who attended or contributed.

Alzheimer Scotland
Dementia Advisor Jennifer McKeand called in to Lodge Prestwick 1060 and was presented with a cheque for £420.
The money was raised “by the way” of a sponsored walk carried out by WJW Bro John Trousdale, who would like to thank everyone who very kindly supported him.
Jenni said that this money would be used to run local support groups which greatly benefit all those who are able to attend.

The Annual Charity Bowling Match between Lodge Prestwick 1060 and Prestwick Bowling Club raised £1000. The photograph shows the Master of the Lodge Drew Rankine and the President of the Bowling Club Robert Johnson presenting the money to Oncology nurses Alish Piper, Steven Pettigrew and Paul Noble at University Hospital, Ayr, Oncology department. A big thank you to all who took part.
1060 send-off for Nicole
When Nicole Scott asked Lodge Prestwick 1060 for some sponsorship to help her on her trip to Peru, Past Master Willie Harper and Club Chairman Alan Hamilton got together and arranged a Fund Raising cabaret. With support from our regular club and lodge members the day was a resounding success raising just over £1000 which the lodge rounded up to £1060.
Nicole who is in her final year of training to become a dentist, was invited along to a regular lodge meeting, and after the Master Drew Rankine recessed the lodge, Nicole was introduced to the members and presented with a cheque.
Nicole then gave a talk about her trip to Peru, where she will give free dental care to the people who otherwise could not afford it. She also explained how the money would be used and thanked everyone for their very kind generosity.
The members of the lodge would like to afford our grateful thanks to everyone who supported the cabaret especially Jim (Buller) Reid and Lawrie Frew.

£100 to Crossroads
Part of the money raised on the Troon Walk, £100.00, was presented to "Crossroads" based at the Biggart Hospital.

£500 to Parkinson's UK (Ayrshire Branch)
This year's chosen charity for PM's John Trousdale and Robert McLauchlan was Parkinson's UK. The photograph shows Robert and John along with Andrew Scott and RWM Willie Harper presenting the cheque to Parkinson's nurses Paula Hewat and Nick Brydan. Also in the photograph is Andy Clark who in spite of suffering from Parkinson's is still able to enjoy a round of golf.

£150 to Combat Stress

The money was raised at the annual charity match between the Lodge and the Club, along with some help from the Order of the Eastern Star and Jean’s colleagues at Co-operative Funeralcare.

The money raised by Bro. Roddy Macleod on the Troon Walk was presented to "Bethesda Hospice Stornoway" and "Tagsa Uibhist".

The Travelling Mallet
At the end of January 2011 we captured the Travelling Mallet along with the pot of money which the brethren agreed to round up to £100.00.
Our RWM Bro. Phil decided that it should go to “Crossroads” based at the Biggart Hospital, a charity which the lodge has supported in the past.
Phil said, “This organisation brings respite to carers in our community and is well worthy of our support”.

On 30th November the Master of Lodge Prestwick 1060 Robert McLaughlan went along to Queen Margaret Academy and presented a cheque for £500 to the Ayr Gymnastics Club. The money was raised at a "Psychic Night" organised by the 1060 club chairman Alan Hamilton.
Alex Somerville, President and coach of the Gymnastics club, said "This was a great present from Lodge Prestwick. The safety equipment that we require is very expensive and paid for by the parents of our members. This donation will allow us to replace some of our well used safety mats".

1060 v Prestwick Bowling Club + O.E.S.
The RWM Archie Patrick accompanied by his wife Margaret, the Worthy Matron of Prestwick Chapter No 62 and Ian Gourlay President of Prestwick Bowling Club went along to The Aberlour Child Care Home in Ardfin Road Prestwick and presented a cheque to Assistant Manager Abi Nicholl for £1060.00. Also in the photograph are Care Assistant Clare Thomson and three of the youngsters.
This money was raised at the annual bowling match between Prestwick Bowling Club and Lodge Prestwick 1060 with a very generous donation of £250.00 being raised by the members of the Eastern Star.
Archie said “It is a great privilege to present this money to such a worthwhile cause and I am delighted at the support given by the members of the Eastern Star and our good friends at Prestwick Bowling Club”.

£500.00 to Sutherland House
Yet another presentation by 1060, this time to Sutherland House. The money was raised by way of our annual sponsored walk from Troon Masonic Lodge to 1060 in Prestwick. Chairman Dougie McEwan said "Sutherland House has been part of the fabric of the local community for over 50 years and it can only remain so with the help of people and organisations such as the Prestwick Masonic Lodge who recognise the part that Sutherland House plays in the community. The charity, which principally provides social activities for Adults with Learning Difficulties, is run by its members, most of whom live locally in the Ayr ,Prestwick and Troon areas".
Past Master John Trousdale (one of the founders of this walk), added "A great credit is deserved by the members of St Cuthbert Golf Club who have generously contributed to this fund raising event since it started".

£1300.00 to Combat Stress
R.W.M. Bro. Archie Patrick accompanied by his Junior Warden Willie Harper presented a cheque for £1300.00 to Staff Nurse Allison Scrace and Senior Carer Isabell Murdoch. This was the proceeds of a Charity Dance held in the social club and organised by Willie and his wife Ann Marie. Willie said "It is a great privilege to support such a worthy charity and I would like to thank all our members and friends for their generosity. Special thanks are due to the Nuance Group at Prestwick Airport for the many raffle prizes that they donated and also the Talent Group from Newcastle for donating the star prize, a weekend in a five star hotel in Newcastle".

1060 Re-visit the Supported Learning Department
RWM Bro. Archie Patrick went along to the Supported Learning Department based at Queen Margaret Academy to present a cheque for £500. This money was raised at an Evening of Mediumship held in the Social Club by the Prestwick Spiritualist Church.
Archie, who was taken on a tour of the department said "It was a real privilege to see first hand the work carried out by Headmistress Jane Happs and her dedicated staff. Our donations enable Jane to take her pupils out of the classroom on organised trips which are very beneficial to them once they leave school".
We would like to thank the Prestwick Spiritual Church and all our friends who helped raise the money.

Station 15 Ayr hospital receives £1060.00
On Saturday 22nd of August Lodge Prestwick 1060 were the guests for the annual charity bowling match between themselves and Prestwick Bowling Club. The venue was the bowling club at Midton Road in Prestwick. The event was as ever very well supported by both experienced bowlers and total beginners who came together to raise money for charity.
The winning team on the day were the members of Lodge Prestwick 1060. The sum raised was enhanced by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Ayrshire tournament held on the Sunday. The money from both events was further added to by Jean Shearer of Prestwick Bowling Club which brought the total raised to around £1000. The Lodge recognised this excellent sum of money should be rounded off to a more manageable number, ie £1060.
